Last checkup: Saturday 25th August

Weight: 6.8kg

Height: 66 cms! Still above 90% average

We brought the lil kiddo to the paed on Saturday. Since she takes her jabs at the government clinic (FOC y’all!), the paed doesn’t schedule appointments for her. We just take her when we feel we need to and has questions. So this time, it’s the all-time favorite Mommies topic: the poo.

Hahaha yes. Since her 2nd month birthday, Ayra has not been pooing everyday. Hell, it can be up to 5 days before she poos each time! I didn’t worry much when she was fully breastfeeding, but since she is now supplemented with formula once or twice in a day, I couldn’t take that chance. Each time she poos it will be a MASSIVE one, and the smell, WHOAH hahahaha. But the doc said she is fine.. her tummy is soft, and the poor girl got her tush intruded by the doc’s finger! She scrunched up her face and made a ‘ketat’ face turning red and whined briefly but is quiet again after the whole deal. The doc said her stool is soft and there is nothing to worry about coz she is not constipated as she still passes gas (lots of them heheh) and just let nature takes it course.. and he said as long as her primary intake is breastmilk, 1 or 2 bottles of formula a day won’t hurt her :) Am I glad! She never had real hard stool before, they will be still soft, but sometimes it’s just so ‘kesian’ to watch her try hard to poo with her face turning red and going “nngggghhhhh! Nnngggghhhhh!”. Sometimes she would even cry! Hahaha. But she did poo on Saturday, after the ‘poke’ hehehe. Guess I just have to accept that she is the type to not poo everyday.

Other than that we noticed she has had a runny nose for a few days… nothing major, it did not become a full-blown flu, but she will have runny nose everytime she cries.. the doc said that was ok too since she did not have a temperature.. her breathing is a bit labored in the mornings due to the blocked nose, but she is still able to breathe fine. Kesian.. her first mild flu. She didn’t get any medication since it is minor. I, on the other hand got myself some pills to help with the milk supply which is still decreasing :(

Ayra drinks 4oz per feeding, 4 bottles when I’m at work.. and I can only get 8-10oz per day of pumping at work.. hence the supplementing with formula.. this lil girl really drinks a lot! Wonder where did it all go since she doesn’t poo often!

Ayra learnt a new trick late last week.. she has discovered that she can make sounds even with her mouth closed and what better way to practice than during nursing time! It is oh-so-cute to hear her going “hmmmmm hmmm hmmmm” at a fixed interval, like making rhymes and tunes while feeding hahaha. But she also discovered that she can’t make sounds while swallowing milk, so what she does is go “hmmm hmmm hmmm” and stop drinking (with the nipples still in her mouth) and then stop and drink some, then start again! What a funny little girl! But her antics also made nursing go on longer and longer and it is especially hard when I need to feed her in the mornings before work (dah la I feel so guilty of having to wake her up so early to feed) and she decides to play! Hahahaha. Another nursing trick would be to turn her head at every single voice she hears behind her, WHILE sucking! OUCH!!! She will nurse and look at me and play with her hands, then suddenly turn her head when she hear anyone talk behind, and then turn back to suck some more, and repeat the whole process! Sometimes she will even smile at me after pulling the nipple! It is cute but also hurts! Hahahaha I bet it is gonna be soooo trying for me once she has her teeth! I may have to take her somewhere quiet and dark to feed after this. Weirdly enough, she will only do this during nursing and never during bottle feeding. Go figure.

She is laughing a lot more now… though it is still hard for us to get her to laugh hard (no problems to smile though, just look at her and she will flash her set of gums at u). She did it a few times already and the sound just makes her parents giggle with joy! So cute! (yeah I really think it is a syndrome for parents to think their own baby is the cutest of them all hahaha)

She naps less during the day. She will sleep for a maximum of 2 hours per time and only twice during the day, but Alhamdulillah she still sleeps most of the night. That is good for me! Hahahaha. And during the weekends she doesn’t wake up at 7+ anymore, if I encouraged her to go back to sleep, she will wake up close to 9! Hehehe. Only on weekdays I had to wake her up at 7.15 to feed her before going to work, and she will make that her playtime! Haha thank God she is a morning person unlike her parents and she will smile at u when opening her eyes and won’t cry a bit!

She still drools, A LOT! She needs at least 2 bib changes during the day and 2 more at night hahahaha. My drooly girl!

I have a hair situation with her too. The hair is getting a bit too long but we can’t find it in our hearts to get it cut! It’s sooo pretty and soft and the natural hairstyle suits her face hahaha. I think it’s time to get some hair bands (Daddy hates those haha) if we don’t want to get the hair cut.

Lastly here’s a pic of my mop-top-head girl.. making a weird face while tilting her head to look at Daddy. Sorry had to ‘flowerize’ my face hehehehe.

Oh by the way, I got my hair cut; shoulder-length :P
