Lil miss Ayra turned 9 months old yesterday…. as per the usual nostalgic thingy, she has spent the same amount of time in my tummy as outside it… though pregnancy somehow didn’t feel that long lah to me hahaha.

What can she do now?

  1.  She can get up on her own from a lying down position to sitting position!!! This one she mastered in like 3 days. I noticed her doing it one day, verryyyy slowly, and 2 days later she can do it in seconds! From lying down, she will roll over on her tummy, then use her hands to push herself backwards onto her knees, then wallah! She’s sitting down. She doesn’t need us to come to her rescue now if she fell backwards hehehe. She even did it when she woke up for her night feedings. I opened my eyes to a sitting baby staring at me whining for milk 2 nights ago. That gave me a shock!
  2. She has 2 bottom teeth now!!!! There’s a story behind this one. All the while we thought she only had 1 teeth. Then a few days ago, through chat with Daddy, he said he dreamt that Ayra had 2 teeth. I laughed it off saying no lah, she only has 1 as of now. But just out of curiosity, I felt inside her mouth that night and true enough, she has another teeth cutting through! Way to go Daddy for his premonition on that one!
  3. She has refused food since her first teeth cutting through. Has anyone else experienced the same thing? She refused to open her mouth after the 2nd or 3rd spoonful and will keep the food inside her mouth without swallowing, only to spit it all out after a while. I have tried porridge, rice cereal, apple and banana porridge, apple cereal, etc but she has refused them all! The ONLY thing she accepts willingly is her baby bites biscuit and strawberry or fruit salad yoghurt. You can’t get full eating yoghurt only can u? I even tried mixing the yoghurt with rice but noooo she refused them still. As a result, she is losing weight (and chubbiness) and making mommy and daddy very very worried. Any advice from mommies out there?
  4. She looovveesssss walking guided. She would cry out for anyone to hold her hands and get her to walk. She will walk EVERYWHERE and getting stronger and faster at it. She has also mastered pulling herself up and standing while holding on to furniture. She just hasn’t cruised on her own yet. She is also a professional racer in her walker. She will zip through the whole floor, banging into anything that’s in her way. I am worried about this one, coz she moves SO fast and will knock into a side table with a vase on it, and the table will move and the vase will sway!!!! I so hope the maid always keeps an eye on her while she does this. She will run to every open door and once even made it outside when the front door was open! Tsk tsk tsk.
  5. She has learnt to vary her ways of playing with toys. Now she won’t immediately put everything in her mouth. She will take hold of an item, turn it around and around while inspecting every angle, feel the texture with her fingers, shake it for a while to see if it makes a sound, and finally tasting it with her mouth and tongue. I LOVE watching her at play now. She has also learnt to use one thing to play with another, for example banging her drum with a toy car; etc. But she has also learnt to throw things everywhere!!! She will shake it for a while and then let go with full velocity. This is especially fun for her while on her high chair. Shake shake, throw down, then look over the side to see where the toy has fallen to. Wait for someone to pick it up and return it to her, and repeat the whole process again. Very very cheeky girl!!!
  6. Still VERY afraid of strangers. My poor parents had a tough time trying to carry her and play with her when we went back over the previous weekend. She will cry and cry at the slightest touch. Though, she loves staring at people. It’s just people can’t stare back at her else she will start wailing. What la my little girl. She will even refuse a toy given by a stranger!

Happy 9 months old little girl!!!

On another note, we have survived through the first week of daddy not being around. 1 week down, 2 more to go!!! The weekends are the WORST, soooo boring without daddy around to take us out for ‘jalan-jalan’. We were practically stuck at home coz mommy felt it was too much hassle taking Ayra out alone and there is no one to ask out anyways. Oh well… just 1 more weekend to go!!!

Ayra was extra extra clingy to me when daddy wasn’t around. The moment she catches the sight of me she will want me to carry her and won’t even allow me to put her down! She refuses anyone else when I’m around. That resulted in a very tired mommy always having to lug with a sticky baby throughout the weekend. She even refuses to be passed to the maid when mommy wants to go to work! That breaks my heart to leave her everyday. Isk isk.

Oh well, just a while more!!! Daddy come home soon will ya???

well, you can’t help it when the chubby girl starts losing all the baby fat once they get a lil bit more active. since you asked, have you tried some custard pudding (you can make it yourself or try the bottled version)

eh, go lah jalan2 with ayra. you can do it on your own, y’know. I can’t say the same when you start having TWO of ‘em running around next time!

i’m with anne on this, yanz, i think she’s bound to lose some (or a lot) of those baby fat soon :( i don’t like it either! when gib lost his baby fat, i felt so miserable coz i felt like i wasnt feeding him enough!

the paed and ppl around me though, have reassured me time and again that as long as the baby’s healthy and active, i shouldnt worry too much.

two weeks will pass in a blink, insyaallah!

p/s: if u feel like going out, ring me ring me! i cuti 3 weeks ;)
