“Do your ears hang low, do they wobble to and fro

Can you tie them in a knot

Can you tie them in a bow

Can you throw them over your shoulders like a continental soldier

Do your ears hang low”

What’s that you may ask? It’s a song from Ayra’s BARNEY cd. Yes, our little daughter has been bitten by the purple bug. We noticed how attentive she is to the tv whenever Barney is on air, so I decided to try and buy 2 cds for her and guess what??? She it totally HOOKED. Like, seriously. She can watch the SAME cd 4 times back-to-back!!!!! She used to call Barney “Bibi” but now it’s “Baba”, same as what she calls a ‘baby’. So now, she will keep pointing to the tv room and go “Baba! Baba!” to watch Barney. Get her in the room, she will immediately pick up the cd case, pass it to you, point to the tv and go “Baba! Baba!”. Shheeeeessshhhhh. If you say “NO” or even shake your head, she will throw a tantrum, throw herself on the floor and start crying!!! No joke!!! THAT’s how much she loves Barney. When I’m at work, the maid says she asks for Baba at least 4 times a day. (And the cd is already about an hour long). When I get back from work, she asks for more Baba from me too. So it’s Baba all day and night!!! What is it with kids and Barney???

She will watch the tv attentively, she will get up and clap her hands and dance around and sometimes follow what the kids in the show do. Very very cute to watch. We tried to get a video of her dancing along to Barney but she’s camera-shy la hahaha. With the camera pointing to her, she refuses to dance! MIL bought her a Barney plush, and so has Daddy!!! She loves them both, and calls out “Baba!!!” whenever she sees them. And now, both of us (Daddy and Mommy) has memorized most of the songs in the 2 cds. We have Barney songs in our head weiiii!!!! Goddddd hahahahaha.

Anyways, other milestones (but I must admit I don’t have many in my head right now, so let’s just go along la). She had a newfound love which is Vitagen and can’t stop drinking them. Any flavour will do. She can finish the whole bottle in one go.

She still has a love-hate relationship with food. Sometimes she eats fine, other times almost none at all. She loves to ask for whatever we eat but always decides not to have anymore after one bite. Loves carbonara, soups, ice-cream, junk food, still love keropok.

Molar tooth is coming out, the bottom left one and I suspect 2 more upper teeth is showing up, but she refuses to let us check so it’s kinda hard to tell.

Still not talking much. Can only call out to ‘Dada’ but no ‘Mama’ yet. But learnt to say “No” and “Nanak”=tak nak. So it’s No and Nanak most times. No when you wanna get her to sleep, Nanak for no more food/drink, Nanak when you try to get her out of the tv room, Nanak for everything. It’s cute, really but getting rather annoying as she refuses almost anything you wanna feed/get her to do!!! Hahahaha.

I have a feeling Ayra is a late talker as she can only say 2-3 words, but I’m not worried yet. She will talking back to me soon enough so I’m letting her catch her tongue at her own pace. She still babbles in her own language non-stop of course, but not much real words yet. But she can get the message across with just a few words accompanied with the pointing and the gestures so we’re fine hahaha.

She also has suddenly moved up a step with her love for breastfeeding. Really. Whenever she sees me (except of course she is watching “Baba”) she will come up to me, get me to carry her, press the ‘you-know-whats’ and attempt to lift up my shirt while whining. Hahahah. That is her signal for ‘nummies’ since she can’t say it yet. She does this many many times, almost every hour if I’m home with her. And especially during car rides. 5 minutes in the car, she will be lifting up my shirt for nummies. Really. I don’t know how she will survive travelling if I wean her off. Now, we’re trying to minimize this by getting me to drive on short distances while she sits with Daddy at the back. Of course she won’t lift Daddy’s shirt kan hahahaha. And I hope she won’t do this in public as it can be quite embarrasing hahaha.

I can’t remember any more now but I’m quite sure there are many. After all, they grow by leaps and bounds at this stage don’t they? She is sooo much fun to be with now as she’s responsive and knows how to get her message across and how I wish she stays in this phase coz I can start to see bits of the ‘terrible-twos’ phase in her behaviour now! Help!!

good God.. yet another one to fall victim to Barney! sigh. Gib’s the same too. he has these Barney, Baby Bob and BJ figurines which he would shower with everyday. although he’s asking for the cds less now compared to last month. sometimes he can now go for days without barney, so hang in there yan! hehehe. anyways, we did the same too when i was weaning gib off the breasts.. i’d drive while H held gib. it worked.
